Westlake Ace Hardware announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire the Dennis Company, a five-store retail hardware chain in coastal southwest Washington. With this acquisition, which will be finalized on March 26, 2018, Westlake will own 121 stores across 10 states. The Dennis Company has five locations in Washington: Aberdeen, Elma, Long Beach, Montesano and Raymond. According to Westlake officials, it will be a seamless transition of ownership and the stores will retain the Dennis Company name, management, personnel and the current product mix. Upon acquisition, Dennis Company stores will become part of the Ace and will be a division of Westlake Ace Hardware. Being part of the Ace family will give Dennis Company customers access to more than 70,000 products, both in-store and through special order. “Westlake is a growing and vibrant brand. We are excited to welcome the Dennis Company into the Westlake family, expand our relationship within the communities they serve, and continue their proud tradition of outstanding customer service,” said Joe Jeffries, president and COO of Westlake Ace Hardware. After 110 years of doing business in coastal southwest Washington, the Dennis Company remains a major player in the area’s retail economy. Headquartered in Raymond, Wash., the chain employs about 85 people and sells a wide and diverse range of hardware and consumer retail products. Westlake has been in operation for more than 100 years and currently has neighborhood hardware stores in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. It has been a wholly owned Ace subsidiary since 2012. Subscribe for Free The Hardware Connection is a digital magazine targeted to independent hardware/home improvement retailers.
