Jim Gray, who had a long career as an industry association executive, passed away December 13 at the age of 76 at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Nashville, Ind., and a former resident of Indianapolis and Crystal Lake, Ill. Jim retired in 2001 after working for 37 years at the American Hardware Manufacturers Association, National Retail Hardware Association and the Ohio Hardware Manufacturing Association. He had been married for 50 years to his wife, Donna Gray. Jim was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Nashville, the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, the National Rifle Association and a former member of the American Society of Association of Executives. Upon retirement, Jim and Donna retired to Nashville, where he was able to pursue his life-long interest in photography and genealogy. His advice on living was “to treat others the way you’d like to be treated” and his life reflected his words. Jim was a true gentleman who was admired, respected and loved by many. Once you met him, you were no longer a stranger. He lived for his wife Donna, his daughters and grandchildren—his greatest accomplishments he would say—and they would all attest it was a life well-lived. Jim is survived by his wife, Donna; daughters Michelle (Eric) Linton of Franklin, Ind.; and Theresa Gray-Pedersen of Crystal Lake, IL; brothers Thomas and Michael Gray; and seven grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Jim to the St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1008 McLary Road, Nashville, IN 47448.
